My interview with Matthew Badham is published in the current (October 2006) issue of The Megazine - readers of this blog will know exactly how much my witterings are worth, but it does include a nice preview image of Stickleback.

Given that I've got a series coming up for 2000AD (Stickleback) and a couple of TPBs coming out soon (Leviathan & XTNCT), I was surprised and not a little touched at the prominence given to the Tharg's Future Shocks I wrote and drew back in the year 200o. I thought the juxtaposition of the panel (from the Future Shock Metamorphic Invaders!) of a man transforming into an alien alongside the title "Odd Man Out" was particularly well judged.

Matt ...

Please forgive me if I'm crossing some line that I was previously unaware of, but ...

... why is there not even the merest whiff of a mention of Lazarus Churchyard in the in the interview?

Seriously -- I'm a fan, but the absence of Laz sticks out like a sore thumb here ...

Cheers!

The omission of any reference to Lazarus Churchyard is purely the fault of the interviewer (that would be me) - a few people have flagged it up and I think it's a valid criticism. Always good to have feedback though, whether positive or negative.
Regards
Matthew Badham

Hi Jim

Don't worry, no line crossed - in fact it's gratifying to find someone who still feels so strongly about work that's now more than fifteen years old...
I should also take some of the blame, as once I start talking (or "get me Pope's hat on" as Dr.F likes to put it) it's hard to stop me, and Matthew Badham could only carry so many cassettes for his recorders :-)

Heh ... thanks for that, both Matthew and Diz. I did kinda wonder whether it was some kind of "Don't Mention The War" thing!

Still ... fifteen years. Jeez. Mind you ... I still have much fondness for Timulo, as well.

Mark me down in the column labelled "Old Fart."

Sorry about the doubled-up text, BTW. No feckin' idea why that happened.

Cheers!

Jim

worse than no mention of Lazarus Churchyard - there was no mention of Tales of the TMNT!!! still top notch though... need to get it signed next time you visit the Asylum up in aberdeen... keep up the good work, im waiting anxiously for Leviathan and XTNCT to come out...

from Michael Tough - you know, the guy that always gets the turtles sketches et al!

Yeah, loved the TMNT art.
That's a seriously ace design for Stickleback (I'm strangely hypnotised by the pinstripes on the trousers!), really looking forward to reading it.
